Is it too late? This question from time to time has managed to creep in and out of my head ever so often. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, or maybe it’s just me trying to make sure that I’m spending my time doing the right things.
This past summer I played a lot of basketball, probably more than I’ve ever played in the last 10 years. On my days off from weight training, I would be on the courts by my house practicing, without fail, as long as the weather permitted. Now, don’t get me wrong, the professional basketball dream died ages ago, so one might ask, why keep practicing?
THE SIMPLE ANSWER..
..I gave myself was that I just love the game way too much. When I’m out there shooting by myself, there’s not a care in the world, just me, the ball and the hoop. If I can still get better, which I believe I can, why not keep playing while I can, there will be a time when I won’t be able to play anymore so I might as well make the most of it.
When I was setting my goals for the near future and was thinking about starting my journey towards writing, blogging and fitness, thoughts crept into my mind asking myself are you really about to start now? You should have been doing this years ago…
It’s hard not to think about these things at some point
However I don’t think anyone has gotten anywhere without having similar thoughts at one point or the other.
The good thing is that these questions help you really answer the “why” behind why you are doing what you do. Doing something for the pure love of it is as good as reason as any to do it. Any time spent trying to do or improve on something you’re passionate about is time worth spending.
In my opinion, it’s never too late to try or do anything, especially if it’s something you love to do. It’s only ever too late if you believe that to be the truth.
To all the late bloomers out there, including my self, remember, there’s no better time to start than right now.
